dance anywhere\u00ae dancers Peter Cheng, Josie Alvite, Megan Lowe and Natalie Marsh took to the streets of San Francisco in the midst of a fierce Bay Area storm for the 10-year anniversary photoshoot. Guided by dance photographer Afshin Odabaee and dance anywhere\u00ae Artistic Director Beth Fein, the dancers braved the storm, climbing, leaping and twirling their way through the streets of the San Francisco Italian District, North Beach.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The dancers met at Washington Square Park<\/a>, a large grassy plaza in front of Saints Peter and Paul church<\/a>. The white facade of the church and the foggy day contrasted with the bright cloths of the dancers. \u00a0Dancers moved from the steps of the church to the grassy park across the street.\u00a0After exploring the plaza, the dancers found a busy intersection with a crosswalk.<\/p>\n

Each time the crossing sign changed the dancers moved across the street, exploring variety in levels and negative space.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On the other side of the street, the dancers moved out of the rain for a dance \u00a0interlude in a muni bus shelter.<\/p>\n

The crew wandered up Columbus Street, a busy restaurant and shopping district. Inspired by the store’s creative window display Afshin disappeared into Proper Fox<\/a> boutique, where he asked the shop owner if she would allow us to take some shots in the store. She was thrilled at the idea and was particularly hospitable, allowing us to try on clothes for the shots, and use a variety of props as we explored her unique space.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Next Stop: An Italian Deli! Beneath garlands of salame and dangling grape vines, the dancers moved through \u00a0the aisles of Molinari Delicatessan<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Delicious wafts of Italian cuisine enticed the crew to return to the streets in search of a place to sit down for lunch.\u00a0Trattoria Pinnochio<\/a>\u00a0offered not only the promise of delicious food, but also a perfect site for a few dance shots. After dining on delicious pasta and salads everyone was re-energized and completed the outing with a few more photos.<\/p>\n
