This year, Sarah Bush choreographed a solo called,\u00a0\u201cInvocation\u201d to the music of composer, Julie Wolf. Sarah originally had plans for the dance to be\u00a0performed in a different space, however, she enjoyed \u201cshifting some of the movement and motivation\u00a0for the dance to fit into the experience of being in a gallery, how looking at art makes you feel\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5404\" style=\"width: 543px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.danceanywhere.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/SB4.jpg\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5404\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5404\" alt=\"Sarah Bush Dance\" src=\"http:\/\/www.danceanywhere.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/SB4.jpg\" width=\"533\" height=\"424\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.danceanywhere.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/SB4.jpg 533w, https:\/\/www.danceanywhere.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/SB4-300x238.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.danceanywhere.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/SB4-120x95.jpg 120w, https:\/\/www.danceanywhere.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/SB4-480x381.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 533px) 100vw, 533px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-5404\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sarah Bush Dance<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cThrilled\u201d to be able to participate in this years event, Sarah states that the \u201copportunity to connect with\u00a0another East Bay arts organization\u201d at the BAC was \u201cperfect\u201d. The company has an upcoming Mother&#8217;s\u00a0Day Weekend show at Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts, entitled, \u201cRocked By Women\u201d and they were interested in reaching out to new\u00a0East Bay audiences. \u201cI love making dance accessible to &#8216;non-dance&#8217; audiences, and site specific work\u00a0and performances in non-traditional spaces are great ways to do that\u201d she says.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5401\" style=\"width: 543px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5401\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5401\" alt=\"Sarah Bush Dance\" src=\"http:\/\/www.danceanywhere.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/SB8.jpg\" width=\"533\" height=\"423\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.danceanywhere.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/SB8.jpg 533w, https:\/\/www.danceanywhere.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/SB8-300x238.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.danceanywhere.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/SB8-120x95.jpg 120w, https:\/\/www.danceanywhere.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/SB8-480x380.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 533px) 100vw, 533px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-5401\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sarah Bush Dance<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Sarah choreographed and performed her solo by \u201cwalking through the gallery room and first studying\u00a0the drawings, then hearing the first piano notes, being moved to turn my gaze upward to the\u00a0architecture of the space. As I set the piece in the space it was SUCH a joy to dance this solo with the\u00a0two other figures! I loved finding and enhancing the gestures and positions in my dance that mimicked\u00a0the sculptures. It really did feel good to dance with them\u201d. By dancing with the art and the music, she\u00a0invited participants and viewers to take photos and videos.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The only unexpected occurrence that happened during her performance were that the sculptures\u00a0\u201cweren&#8217;t in the locations that we thought they would be so we had to do some adjusting. It totally\u00a0worked out. A friend of mine showed up with her hula hoop so we had impromptu hula hooping dance\u00a0party after I finished performing\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/A5nnas3Lim4\" height=\"315\" width=\"560\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Sarah interacts and participates in dance anywhere\u00ae because it encourages bringing \u201cdance to new\u00a0spaces, places and people\u201d.
