Ever wished the line between day-to-day life and your dance life were a little less clear? Find yourself rocking to the music when standing in line, or practicing a few cha-cha steps while shopping? The good news is you are not alone.
Friday, March 28, 2014 is International dance anywhere® Day. The organizers, located in San Francisco, California, are calling for everyone to stop what they are doing and spend a few minutes dancing at noon Pacific time (or 3:00 p.m. here in Central Florida). Of course, being a day long affair, you are invited to make dance a part of your day all day long. So do the salsa by the water cooler, Charleston your way down to the bathroom, waltz into the store, or tango to dinner.
Event organizers in San Francisco say that similar events are scheduled to occur simultaneously in Cozumel, Budapest, Tel Aviv, and Cairo, to name a few. Countless others are also planned all over the world. Of course, Arthur Murray Orlando and Winter Park will be taking our Friday night parties to Atlantic Dance Hall on the Disney Boardwalk that night starting at 9:00 p.m. In years gone by, participants have recorded performances in taxis in Istanbul and even one intrepid group that reenacted a scene from “Happy Feet” in Antarctica.
The dance anywhere® event is meant to be a fusion of public performance art with something that is simply fun for the participants. Organizers envision a day when everyone around the world takes a few moments to dance at the same time every year and experience the joy that dancing can bring.
So, do not be surprised if you see a flash mob break out on Friday or if you find a co-worker jamming out in their office. Of course, if you would like to show off your dance skills on International dance anywhere® Day (or any other day of the year), you should start your journey with Arthur Murray Dance Studios. We have three convenient locations in Central Florida and would love to see you today. Remember, your first lesson is FREE!
