Turkeys, Hawks and Deer- A Mused Collective dances in the Sierra Nevada Foothills

   Sky

A Mused Collective danced with wild turkeys, hawks and deer, beneath oak trees in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. Artistic Director, Abby McNally says that her dancers chose to perform here for dance anywhere® on March 22, 2013, as they hoped to glean inspiration from nature.

McNally, a dancer, choreographer, musician and environmentalist perceives that her environmental professional associations and her diverse training in dance and music influence her unique movement style. McNally enjoys exploring athletic movement, challenging boundaries, and finding new ways to utilize momentum and suspension. She says that she dances all the time- “I dance in the kitchen, through the hallway and in nature, when I am hiking, backpacking, or just spending time in an open space”.

McNally and A Mused Collective also participated in dance anywhere®, 2012 at the Kinetic Arts Center in Oakland. This year’s performance was unique in that they may- or may not!- have had an audience. McNally says they were so caught in the movement experience of their Dance Anywhere piece that they didn’t even notice if passerby stopped to watch. Instead they enjoyed the sensory movement experience of their natural surroundings.

On July 20th, 2013 A Mused Collective shows a preview of their project, Sincerely Rescripted at Kinetic Arts Center in Oakland. This performance includes original music, dance and art installations inspired by letters and written submissions. Details here.

A Mused Collective is a modern dance and musical performance group based in the San Francisco Bay Area lead by Artistic Director, Abby McNally, Musical Director, Tony Poeck and Rehearsal Director, Jenjen Wong. View their Website and their dance anywhere page.
